Gertie was born June 17, 1916 at Greenleaf, KS., the daughter of Herbert and Marie Mosher Schriner. She had lived in Blue Rapids since the 1940's. Previously she lived in other towns in Washington County and Marshall County and a few years in California during World War II.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blue Rapids.
She married Roy Sutton on May 27, 1940 at the Methodist Parsonage in Barnes, KS. They were later divorced.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Herb Schriner, and a sister Vera Merrill.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Sutton, Blue Rapids and Nancy Steel, Riley, KS; a son Rick Sutton of Marysville, KS; a half-brother Jake Schriner, Laramie, WY.; a half-sister, Violet Plunk, Quincy, FL and 3 grandchildren.
