Douglas M. Holtzman, age 59, of Menomonie, passed away while performing his duty as a truck driver Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Doug was born on December 20, 1945, in Leon, Iowa. He was raised by Ardee and Otto Fascher in Farmersburg, Iowa. Doug was married to Judy Quick on June 20, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa. Doug spent a lifetime driving his truck and spent the last 15 years devoted to driving for Wal-Mart. He supported the truck buddy program and traveled to Texas to visit his class. He also enjoyed fishing for walleye and catfish with his wife and talking around the world as a strong ham radio operator.

Doug loved and cherished his wife, Judy, and raising his four children. He was the best husband, father and grandfather his family could hope for.

Doug is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Holtzman of Menomonie; three sons, Jeffrey Holtzman of Sand Creek, Todd Holtzman of Menomonie and Russell Holtzman of Menomonie; a daughter in our hearts, Heidi Erickson-Holtzman of Menomonie; 10 grandchildren, Michael Olewinski and Zachary Holtzman of Glendale, Ariz., Matthew Holtzman of Menomonie, Samantha Holtzman of Des Moines, Iowa, NeSin and Shayne Holtzman of Menomonie, Mike Holtzman of Newton, Iowa, Dallas Holtzman of Menomonie, Brett Holtzman of Wheeler and Chelsey Holtzman of Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Steven (Katie) Quick of Tucson, Ariz., and Jim Quick of Milo, Iowa; two aunts and an uncle, Morris and Margaret Kent of Corydon, Iowa, and Jean Raines of Missouri; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardee and Otto Fascher; a son, John Holtzman; and a grandson, John Jr. Holtzman.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, Wis., with the Rev. Rolf Nestingen officiating, and at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion

Family and friends are welcome from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and from 3 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. Family and friends are also welcome from 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines.
