Cecil Virgil Acker, 67, of 7607 35th Ave., South Tampa Fla., formerly of Murphysboro, died unexpectedly Sunday in Tampa.

Mr. Acker was dead on arrival at Tampa General Hospital. He apparently died of natural causes.

He was born March 8, 1902, in Guerey [Gurley?], Ala., the son of Tilman and Mamie Hatcher Acker.

He married Ruby Smith of Murphysboro.

Mr. Acker was a retired coal miner.

He was a member of the Goodwill Baptist Church in Tampa.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Carolyn O'Brien of Marion and Mrs. Phyliss Madden of Hurst; sisters, Ora Acker and Mrs. Lois Meacham of Warner Robbins Ga., and Mrs. Vivian Crenshaw of Mobile, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
