Judith Ann Lester Schmitt, 70, of Henry died at 8:15 a.m. March 2, 2013, in her home.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Henry, with the Revs. Tom Mizeur and Harold Schmitt officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Henry.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday in Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Henry with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and also at 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service in the church.

She was born March 1, 1943, in her family's home in Leepertown Township, Bureau County to Harvey S. and Faye M. (Turpen) Lester. She married Gerald F. Schmitt on June 27, 1964, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Henry.

She is survived by [her husband;] four children, Jerilyn (Robert) Smith of Braidwood, James (Tina) Schmitt of Henry, Joseph (Stephanie) Schmitt of Paris and Janelle (Robert) Szweistis of Aurora; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary (Jim) Glenn of Magnolia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jeremy John; and one sister, Betsy Morgan.

Judith was raised and lived in the Henry area. She graduated from Henry schools and attended Illinois State University. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon 1978-98.

Memorials may be directed to Henry Public Library, American Kidney Foundation or the donor's choice.
