Clearwater, SC - Mr. John Dunbar Beard, Jr., 82 of Clearwater, SC, beloved husband of sixty-one years to Mrs. Susie T. Beard, entered into rest on Monday, March 4th, 2013.
He was born in Aiken County to the late John Dunbar Beard, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Lee Smith Beard. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and worked for Seminole Mills for several years and retired after thirty-five years of service with SCE&G. Mr. Beard was also an Electrical Contractor. He was a very loving and caring person who loved sharing with others about his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife Susie Thompson Beard. He is also survived by one son, Glenn Beard, (Gail) North Augusta, SC, one daughter, Rhea Pettis (Donnie) Hickory, NC, one sister, Ethel Hutto (Raymond), New Ellenton, SC, four grandchildren, Stacy Jones (Michael) Hickory, NC, Jeff Pettis (Emily) Sevierville, TN, Brandon Beard (Linsay), Savannah, GA and Brian Pettis, Hickory, NC and great-grandchildren, Renee Jones, Regan Jones, Tate Jones, Carter Beard, Landon Weaver, Morgan Pettis and Christopher Pettis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beard was preceded in death by three brothers Calvin Beard, Demaris Beard, and J.W. Beard and two daughters, Rita Lynn Beard, and Janet Renee' Beard.
"Ho-Ho" as he was known by so many people loved fishing, gardening and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Beard was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he served in many leadership positions including over 50 years as a Deacon, Deacon Emeritus and was also a Sunday school teacher.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Tri-County Hospice, Missy Jones, Kandi Bergeron, Sharon Owens, and Pastor Robert Jackson. All prayers, phone calls, cards and visits from family, friends and church members are also especially appreciated.
Funeral services will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, on Wednesday, March 6th, 2013, at 11 o'clock, with Pastor Robert Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bath, SC.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Keith Harp, Toni Nardi, Ken Middlebrooks, Lee Hamer, and Marvin Ansley.
