Funeral services for Cecil Holmes, age 74, of Richmond, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the First Baptist Church of Richmond, with the Rev. Dr. John Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Rosenberg. Visitation will be 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth Street in Rosenberg.
Mr. Holmes died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. He was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Hull. Mr. Holmes was a 1959 graduate of Texas A&M University. He was married for 52 years to Lena Lenora Hartlage. He worked at WKM for 20 years. After retiring from WKM, he owned Amtech Industries. He loved fishing, hunting and raising cattle.
Survivors include sons, Thomas Holmes and wife, Debbie, of Rosenberg, and David Holmes of Austin; daughter, Catherine Litchfield and husband, Kendall of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Gregory Holmes and Megan Holmes; and special friend, Jane Lain. His parents, Oscar Robert Holmes and Ruby Singletary Holmes, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lena Lenora Holmes, and by his son, William Wyatt Holmes.
