She was the wife of Louis Bergdoll, Jr., and mother of Grover Cleveland and Erwin Bergdoll. When Grover was being arrested by the authorities, the police described her as waving an automatic pistol. Every room of the house had loaded revolvers, bowie knives, shotguns, and Maxim silencers. Mrs. Bergdoll was found guilty of helping her sons Grover and Erwin evade the draft in Wold War I. In her testimony at the Select Committee investigating Grover' escape, she admitted to carrying a revolver for self-protection and converting paper money to gold which she had buried. She died at the age of 83.
