At 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Leahy at her home, 311 East Tenth street. Her illness was of but a few hours duration and her death was consequently a great shock to her friends and relatives. Mrs. Leahy was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1835. In 1855 she was married at her home to Martin Leahy and two years later they came to America and directly to Davenport. For over half a century she was resident of this city. Her husband passed away in this city 21 years ago. Mrs. Leahy is survived by three sons and three daughters. They are James of Ottumwa and John and Joseph at home and Mrs. J. W. Mullen, Mrs. T. J. Feeney and Miss Kate, at home.
The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9 o'clock with services at Sacred Heart cathedral and interment in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
