George F. Godsil, 77, of Galesburg, died at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 surrounded by his family.

George was born March 26, 1935 in Dahinda, the son of William Arthur and Eleanor Francis (Walker) Godsil. George married Marcia Hagerty. He later married Harriet Bursaw. George is survived by two sons, William ( Lisa) of Derry, NH and Loren (Stacy) of Ballwin, MO; three daughters, Gayle (Todd) Andrews of Abingdon, Anne (Jon) Rollins and Rhonda (Orrin) Clarke both of Oneida; six brothers, Pat (Donna) of Galesburg, Mike of Galesburg, Danny (Jane) of New Windsor, Jess (Janet) of Galesburg, Kevin (Connie) of Galesburg, and Paul (Maryanne) of Port St. Lucie, FL; and seven sisters, Alice Timmerman of Bellview, NE, Bea (Gary) Lundeen of Galesburg, Collette (Mel) Slane of Peoria, Christine (Ricky) Cooper of Glencoe, Cel (Dan) Shea of Gilson, Loretta (Jerry) Bent of Oneida, and Julia (Tex) Jackson of Galesburg. George is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Christina Godsil, Amanda (Tommy) Leonard, Michael Godsil, Ashley (Patty Keenan) Burnham, Brandon Larson, Amber (Eric) Larsen, Whitney Courson, Josh (Kelly) Rollins, Nicole Rollins, Amanda Rollins, Leslie (Kent) Seiler, Shawn Williams, Danielle Williams, Dana Clarke, and Thomas Godsil; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas in 1982; and three brothers, Gordon, Matt, and Steve.

George worked at International Harvester for many years retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Wataga, the Elks Lodge #894, and the Grand Avenue Social Clubs.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Wataga, Rev. Deus-Dedit Byabato will officiate. Burial will follow in Henderson Cemetery, Henderson. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Elks Lodge #894, or to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
