Lifelong Coshocton Co. Resident & War Veteran Succumbs
Death claimed William Dawson of South Eight St. late Friday afternoon after a long illness with stomach troubles. He was a retired farmer and had resided with his daughter, Miss Abbie Dawson and Mrs. Ora Dawson in Coshocton for the past three years.
Mr. Dawson was born in Virginia township 75 years ago, and lived in that vicinity all of his life, until he came to this city. He was a member of CO. G of the 123rd O.V.I. during the Civil War.
Mr. Dawson was twice married, but both wives have preceded him to the grave. The first was Miss Nancy Wright of Lafayette, and the second, Miss Augusta Adams of Keene township. Seven children survive, Mrs. C.W. Teale of Coshocton, Mrs. C.E. Bantum of Warsaw, Mrs. G.W. Nosker of Hanover, Miss Abbie Dawson of Coshocton, John Dawson of Coshocton, Dr. E. M. Dawson of Granville, Prof. W.M. Dawson of yellow Spring O. There are 23 grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Louisa Parrish of Conesville, and the following half brothers and sisters, Mrs. E. Taylor of Willow Brook, J.R. Dawson of Roscoe, Lindsay Dawson of Coshocton and Benjamin and Israel Dawson.
He became a member of the Willow Brook Christian Church 46 years ago and was a trustee for twenty years.
The funeral will take place at the Christian Church, Coshocton, Sunday at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Peters will be the officiating clergyman and the interment will be made in South Lawn Cemetery.
