Bonnie wrote this Febraury 2005, for the Colonial Springs Reflections where she spent the last few years of her life in Buffalo, Missouri.

I was born on December 10, 1906 to Joesph S. Bridges, and Sarah M. Pitts Bridges in Urbana, Missouri. I am the last child living in my family, having two sisters and eleven brothers. I grew up on a 20 acre farm in the Urbana area. I enjoyed helping my mother around the house and tending to the garden. I went to school and graduated from Urbana High Schoool in 1926. I was the only one in my family to graduate from school. That was quite an honor. For the next five years, I taught school, and went to college at Springfield's Teachers College.

I met my future husband, Jim Stafford one evening when I went on a triple date with a few of my friends. He told everyone that evening that he was going to date me, and he did. We were married in 1935 at the home of Dr. Pike, who was the head of Southwest Baptist University, in Bolivar, Mo. For the next several years, Jim and I lived in California and Montana. He worked as a carpenter and I worked in a drug store. One day my brother, A.T., asked us if we wanted to purchase his drug store in Urbana. We agreed, and that is how we spent the rest of our life together. The Stafford Drug Store was the hit of the town. We had a soda fountain and the kids loved it. A few years later, we opened up and managed The Stafford Cafe. It was located in an adjoining building by the drug store. Jim and I were married 41 wonderful years. I can't wait to see him in Heaven. Jim and I had one son. That's the story of my life. Thanks for letting me share it with you.
