35yrs 4mos 13days. Son of E.P. and Louise Irvin Anderson, who made their home in Reidsville. He graduated from Horner Military Academy in 1889, went to Richmond, Va., and got into the wholesale produce business. In 1902, he came to Greensboro, and started up his own business, W I Anderson & Co., which was also a wholesale produce business. (The building still stands at the corner of Church and Friendly Ave., and had been used as a private school.) He married twice---first to Fannie Landis of Oxford, NC, who died in 1910. He next married Effie McLean of Greensboro on Oct. 5, 1911. He died in St. Leo's Hospital from complications of an operation for appendicitis. He was survived by his daughter, Fannie Landis Anderson, from his first marriage, and Effie McLean Anderson, his second wife, also his parents, 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
