On the evening, of Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital, a beautiful life came to a close. Derrick Eugene Ballard, joined those in the home not built by hands, but whose maker and builder is God. Derrick was born on January 26, 1980 in Camden, S.C. He was the son of James and Pauline Doby Ballard.
He attended the public schools in Lancaster County South Carolina.
Derrick enjoyed life, especially spending time with his daughter. He had a great passion for basketball and football. Derrick was a jokester. He always entertained his family and friends by telling jokes and making them laugh. Derrick's spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, one daughter, Tykeona Ballard of Lancaster, S.C.; his parents of Lancaster, S.C.; three brothers, MIchael Ballard (LaTonya), Brian Ballard( Octavia), Scottie Ballard(Angela) all of Lancaster, S.C.; four aunts, Shirley Coleman of Lancaster, S.C, Polly Graves of Buffalo, N.Y, Robbie Mae Catoe(Richard), Liberty HIll, S.C. and Carrie Lynn of Fort Lawn, S.C.; five uncles, Robert L.Ballard (Ann) and LaGuardia Ballard (Corey) of Charlotte, N.C, Garrett Ballard(Jeannette) and Charles Ballard (Geraldine) of Lancaster, S.C. and Charles Doby of Washington, S.C.; great aunts and great uncles; two godmothers, Annie Stevenson and Almetta Cunningham of Lancaster, S.C; god-brother, Reuben Dwayne Baskins; a special cousin, Keevia Blair; host of nieces, nephes ; special friend of the family, Sandra Stover.
Viewing will be Thursday, 1:00 - 6:00pm at Stewart Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be Friday, 2:00pm at Cedar Rock Baptist Church by Reverend Johnnie King and Reverend Jerusha Gaither. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park Cemetery .
