Delma Abernathy, age 91, of Royal went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 28, 2013.

She was born on February 14, 1922 in Story, the daughter of William A. and LuVadie Viola Worthy Reed. She is preceded in death husband, Floyd L. Abernathy, her parents; four brothers; Earnest Reed, Buddy Reed, Amos Reed and Columbus Reed; nine sisters; Lois V. Turner, Roxie B. Barnes, Velma Griffith (her twin), Rosie Bell and Lilly Dale, who were twins, and two more sets of twin girls; one daughter-in-law, Judith Ann (Loy) Abernathy, one son-in-law, Floyd Douglas Rowton; two grandsons, Christopher David Abernathy and Vance Jason Rowton and one great-grandson, Douglas Alan Palmer.

Delma was a Missionary Baptist by faith and loved to go fishing. She raised beautiful flowers and working in her garden was a great joy to her. She was a long time employee of Lake Catherine Footwear. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-laws, and three daughters and sons-in-laws; Thurman L. and Joy Joann (Kuhn) Abernathy of Hot Springs, D. Louise and Deverl Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska, John W. and Patsy (Mallett) Abernathy of Brown Springs, LouElla and Howard Hawthorn of Glenwood, Deborah and Larry Rowe of Hot Springs and Curtis and LaRhonda Abernathy of Delight; forty nine grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 2:00PM in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Curtis Abernathy officiating.

Interment will be in the Reeds Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her family.

Visitation will be from 2:00PM until 4:00PM Sunday evening, at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
