Paul H. Berger, 76, of Lenzburg, IL, born Sept 4, 1922, in St. Louis, MO, died Saturday, Dec 26, 1998, at Mariacare, Red Bud, IL. Mr. Berger was a farmer and foundry worker. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Lenzburg, IL, and the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. He attended the Lenzburg Senior Citizens Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice R., nee Dinges, Berger, whom he married Sept 9, 1950, in Freeburg, IL, and who died Nov. 16, 1982; and his parents, Samuel and Eliza, nee Bassler, Berger.

Surviving are a son, Ronald (Betsy) Berger of Lenzburg, IL; a daughter, Sue Ann (Bruce) Opolka of Lenzburg, IL; a grandson, Samuel Berger of Lenzburg, IL; two granddaughters, Laura Berger and Daniella Opolka, both of Lenzburg, IL; and a sister, Betty Jane (Stanley) Steinheimer of Denver, CO.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 5 to 9 pm Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home, New Athens, IL, and from 9 to 11 am Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Lenzburg, IL.

FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, Dec 30, 1998, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Lenzburg, IL, with the Rev. Howard Thomure officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Lenzburg, IL. HEIL-SCHUESSLER FUNERAL HOME, New Athens, IL.
