Survivors include his children, Edward Chapple and Jana Weeks both of Abilene; a granddaughter, Kelsie; his sister, Francis Self of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, William Harry Chapple and Mary Martha Oehme Chapple and a sister, Lillian Chapple Ashabranner preceded him in death.
