ABRAM J. HARDENBERGH DEAD

Formerly of Brooklyn and Concerned in the Parmelee Case.

His connection with a scandle of 1888

In that year Mrs. Emma L. Parmelee died of heart disease in a house in New York and developments indicate that Hardenbergh was her companion. The families lived in adjoining house on Jefferson Avenue and were possessed in wealth.

Port Jervis, N.Y., May 8,--Abram Jansen Hardenbergh, a prominant railroad contractor, died at his residence here, yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock if bronchial trouble, resulting from an attack of grip two years ago. He was 64 years old. Mr. Hardenbergh was a native of Shawanguck, Ulster county. He resided in Middletown for many years and did business in New York as a real esatate agent and __ broker. He removed to Brooklyn over seven years ago and resided until this spring at 829 Jefferson avenue, when he came to Port Jervis. He was one of the projectors of the Brooklyn elevated and a director of the same company until forced to retire on account of declining health. He made considerable money out of this enterprise. He was the contractor in building the extension of the Port Jervis, Monticello and New York railroad and a director of the company. He was also interested in other projected railway extensions. Mr. Hardenbergh was a lineal descendant of Johannes Hardenbergh, who settled in Ulster county 200 years ago, and was the proprietor of an extensive tract of land known as the Hardenbergh patent. He is survived by his wife and one son, Abram J., of the firm of Hardenbergh & Anges, druggists, New York city. The funeral will take place from his late residence, 11 1/2 Ulster Place, Port Jervis, tomorrow at 2 p.m. The interment will be on Thursday at Pine Bush.
