Paralee Douthit, 90, of Nantahala Community, Topton, died Friday, July 27, 2012, in a Franklin hospital. She was a native and lifetime resident of Macon County. She had worked for Owenby Manufacturing for 24 years. She was a member of the Briartown Baptist Church but had been attending Cowee Baptist Church in Franklin.

She was the daughter of the late Amos Allen and Flossie Mason Grant and the wife of the late James Buel Douthit, who died June 29, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Douthit.

Surviving are four daughters, Glenda Sue Barnwell and husband, Donald of Swannanoa, N.C., Linda Jecille Harrison and husband, Ray of Franklin, Cathey Cearley of Mineral Bluff, Ga., and Vanessa Carole Vinson and husband, Steven of Franklin: two sons, William Jack Douthit and Johnny Douthit both of Andrews; three sisters, Muriel Denny of Topton, Hope Franklin of Andrews, and Della Campbell of Robbinsville; a brother, Jack Grant of Conover, N.C.; five grandchildren, Kim Hayes, Chuck Brank, Jay Douthit, Israel Douthit, and Kayla Davenport; five great-grandchildren, Emily Hayes, Dylan Brank, Jace Douthit, Wyatt Douthit, and Julia Douthit; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 30, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. David Powell officiating. Interment was in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Douthit, Tommy Duvall, Roger Grant, Allen Grant, Sam Franklin, and Doug Denny. Honorary pallbearer was Mike Douthit.
