Spencer James Williams and Miriam C. Harris were married on March 2, 1914 in Muscogee County, Georgia. They had two children: Anne Williams (1915 - ?) and Lee Harris Stahl (109631887), who adopted his stepfather's name. The 1920 census shows Miriam living at her parent's home with the children. She married Lisle Conrad Stahl about 1923.

Spencer and America "Lela" Ferguson Mercer were married about 1930. There were no children from this marriage, but SJ helped raise three stepsons, James, Sam, and E D Mercer.

Spencer worked at the telephone exchange and the telegraph for the railroad. He was also a novelties salesman. In his later years, he was a self-employed public accountant.

Funeral services for Spencer James Williams, 73, of 4033 Verner Drive, will be at 3:30 pm tomorrow in Gifford Jackson Funeral Home Chapel. Ward Glentzer of Norton Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park with graveside services by Aransas Pass Masonic Lodge AF&AM. A resident of Nueces County for 10 years, Williams died Sunday at his home here.

Williams, a resident of Nueces County 10 years, died early yesterday morning at hi home 4033 Verner Drive.
He was a self-employed public accountant and member of Ingleside Methodist Church and Aransas Pass Masonic Lodge AF&AM.
Surviving are his wife; three stepsons, J. E. Mercer of Corpus Christi, E D Mercer of Charlotte, N. C., and Sam T. Mercer of Venezuela, and two sisters Miss Lottie Williams and Miss Irma Williams both of Kenansville, N. C.
