She was born in 1805 and enjoyed the company of her somewhat famous grandfather, Benjamin Jones who was nicknamed "Poplarfoot" due to his enormous feet. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and had the distinction of being one of General Washington's personal physicians.
Most of these relatives moved to and died in Henry County VA. Granddad Poplarfoot died there in 1843. His wife, Jane's paternal grandmother was named Eliza de Remi which had since been shortened to "Reamy." That is where Jane got her middle name. Grandma Jones lived to be one Hundred years and a month old, dying In April in 1856.
