Joan E. Burke, 76, of N. Levitt St., died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at St. Luke's Home with her family by her side. She was born March 29, 1936 in E. Syracuse the daughter of Alex and Lillian Bohn Force. Joan graduated from New Hartford Central School in 1954. On August 20, 1955 she married William Burke in Chadwicks. He died October 28, 1998. Joan retired from the Rome Developmental Center in 1991 after 25 years.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, three sons and daughters-in-law, one sister, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's Home for their wonderful care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome. Interment will be in Verona Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Home for Funerals Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rome Humane Society.
