Porter has been a mystery. A War of 1812 veteran, three wives, lots of kids, and a death due to cholera in the 1850s, in Iowa, as he fled his third wife, for California. So you tell me... what should I think of my great-great-great grandfather?
I am not going to list the three wives and all the kids just yet, I may leave that for someone better at this then me. I do want to mention his first wife, Zilpha Conant, who died too young, as this is my direct lineage. Their children were: Elvira Forbes Wallen, b 1814 in New York; Anson Forbes, b 1819 in New Hampshire; James Parsons Forbes, b 1820 in New Hampshire; Loton Forbes, b 1822 in New Hampshire; Chastina Forbes Baker, b 1824 in New York.
Porter's parents were: Caleb Forbes, b 1750 in Bridgewater, and Susanna Keith, b 1753 in Bridgewater.
