Dean H. Burger, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 in Pampa.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 2, 2013, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Blossom Matthews, pastor, and Andy Cavalier, officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Burger was born June 7, 1927 in Thomas, Oklahoma and was a 1944 graduate of Perryton High School. He had been a resident of Gray County since 1945. Dean served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He married Donna Brunnier on June 7, 1948 in Lockney. Dean was a Gray County farmer and rancher for the past 68 years. He was a member of the Groom ISD Board where he was president for 12 years. He was a director of the Groom Co-op, a director of State National Bank in Groom for 49 years, a director of Panhandle Plains Federal Land Bank, and a director of the Gray County Appraisal Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pampa, and the Groom Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife Donna of the home; a daughter, Connie Fields of Groom; a son, Ken Burger and wife Lynn of Pampa; eight grandchildren, Melissa L. Fields of Missouri City, Scott Fields, Chris Burger and wife Emily, and David Fields, all of Groom, Jeffery Fields and wife Aimee of Amarillo, Jolee Burger Moore and husband Andy of Keller, Kenzi Larson and husband Brandon of Dallas, and Wendy Cavalier and husband Andy of Eastland; and 19 great-grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gladys Burger; and by a son-in-law, Charles D. Fields.
