Jerry G. Tuggle passed away April 12, 2004, at his home after an illness. He was born on Feb. 5, 1941, in rural Newton County, Mo. to Claude W. Tuggle and Eunice D. (Anderson) Tuggle.

He graduated from Neosho High School in 1960, and attended the former Joplin Business College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Missouri Southern State College with a BSBA in 1989. He obtained his certified public accountant certificate in June of 1992. He was employed by Able Body Corporation before his illness.

He married Karen Berner on July 25, 1975. She survives. He is also survived by a brother Edward Tuggle, Joplin; two sisters, Martha Baughman and Patricia Lett, of Neosho; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Tuggle; and a sister, Delorous Glover.

Jerry was the recipient of The Wall Street Journal Award. He was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, Alpha Chi, Institute of Management Accountants, Inc., Missouri Society of CPAs, Missouri Southern Alumni Association, Missouri Southern State University Lionbackers Boosters and Joplin Lodge No. 501, BPOE.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Parker Chapel with personal friends officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Bob Toft, Denny Oxendine, Joe Verhaar, Doc Gaskin, John Raines and Edward Keplar serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Mrs. Tuggle requests memorial contributions be made to Missouri Southern State University athletic department, or the Elks Christmas basket fund.

Mrs. Karen Tuggle would like to thank the many friends who have offered their support and help through Jerry's illness with special gratitude to Ron and Clara Faye Jackson, and Bob and Mary Ann Toft.
