Robert Matthews of St. James, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Phelps County regional Medical center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85. Robert was born April 4, 1927 in Vienna, Missouri to the late Ernest Kyle and Laura (Elrod) Matthews.
Robert was united in marriage to Theresa Reinwald on July 30, 1949 and to this union four children were born. Robert and Theresa celebrated 63 of marriage in 2012. Robert worked in the construction industry his entire working life; he was also a custom steel guitar maker. He enjoyed being the "Master Chef" at the family bar-be-ques and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Robert was a member of the Kingdom Hall in St. James, Missouri. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife Theresa, of St. James, MO; children, Linda Peachy, of St. James, MO; Brenda Chambers, and husband Don, of Vichy, MO; Ken Matthews and wife Sue, of St. James, MO; Shelia Matthews, of Vichy, MO; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Jimmy, Don and Buell Mathews; sisters, Pearl Evens, Virgie Bailey, and Belve Matthews.
