Adams, Sr., 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Chapin Baptist Church with interment to follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association , 520 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the American Diabetes Association , 7021 St. Andrews Road, Suite 100-A, Columbia, SC 29212. Mr. Adams was born September 11, 1926, and passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was the son of the late John Quincy Adams, Sr. and Mary Belle Hearn Adams. Mr. Adams was a WWII Navy Veteran and an avid woodworker. Mr. Adams is survived by his children, Robert Lamar Adams, Jr., Virginia Adams Worthington; grandchildren, Christina Adams West, Robert Lamar Adams, III, Chris Worthington and Kyle Worthington; great-grandchildren, Wesley Tre' Adams, Madison West, Eden West and Cayden William Lamar Adams. Mr. Adams was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Hesse Adams, and daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Adams.
