His dad was Rev Gerd Bents and mother Frieda (Meyerhof) 1881-1913. Frieda also had Harm 1907 and Gerhard 1909.

June 3, 1937 he married Christine Cordes in Almena. He and his brother, Ted, started Bent's Motors in Comstock.

Preceeding his death: Parents and 8 brothers and 2 sisters. Harm, Gerhard, Theodore, Ulrich, Paul, Jan, Arnold and Reinhold. Esther Kettel and Dorothea were the sisters.

Surviving were 4 brothers: Carl, Martin, Walter and Rolf, 3 sisters: Marie Kunkel, Hannah Barker and Alma Hahn.
