Biography
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Margaret Catholic Church for Dorine Dupont Smith, 91, who died February 27, 2013 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh, LA.
Msgr. Russell Harington, pastor of St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. Interment will be in Estherwood Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Granger of Lake Charles, Sandra Tarou and her husband, Ivan of Sulphur, Diana Mouton and her husband, Michael of Estherwood, and Martha Farmer and her husband, Philip of Lake Charles; four sons, Rod Smith and his wife, Bonnie of Mermentau, Jennings "J.P." Smith and his wife, Marie of Jennings, Stephen Smith and his wife, Floy of Estherwood, and Tony Smith and his wife Adrienne of Estherwood; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her son, Larry Smith; her parents, Ignace and Sylvania Benoit Dupont; two sisters, Delta Dupuis, and Della Myers; daughter-in-law, Patricia Guidry Smith; and one son-in-law, Dewey "Buddy" Granger.
Pallbearers will be Todd Smith, Kirk Tarou, Heath Mouton, Stephen Smith, Jr., Jason Smith, and Dillan Smith.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Golden Age Nursing Home, and Christus Hospice for their care and service they provided to Ms. Smith.
