Herman Samuel Richards was born 14 March 1905 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. He was the oldest of the 7 children born to Samuel Hinton Richards and Jennie Sofia Larsen. Siblings: Herbert Kenneth Richards (1907 - 1997), Whitney Parker Richards (1909 - 1981), Dorothy Linore Richards[Mason],[Stay] (1911 - 1988), Sidney Rollin Richards (1914 - 1971), Myrle Iantha Richards [Holt] (1915 - 2008) and Howard Arthur Richards (1928-1980). When Herbert was 24 years of age, he met a young neighbor lady that captured his heart and he married Montana Billings in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 19 June 1929 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah in the LDS Temple. They had seven children; Samuel Douglas Richards (1930-1974), Ardith Jean [Richards] Sauter, Stillborn Boy (1936-1936), Lois Elaine [Richards] Anderson, Terrell Richards, Rebecca [Richards] Phillips and Guy Richards. In their early years - they resided in Salt Lake - and later were transferred to Provo by Utah Power and Light - where Herman was employed all of his life until retirement. There they lived on the Provo Canyon Road - just north of the BYU Stadium. They have 24 grandchildren, and many great and great-great-grandchildren. Herman died 20 October 1987 in Provo, Utah County, Utah and was buried 23 October 1987 in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah.
