Visitation was held Sunday at the Peninsula Memorial Chapel from 3-6 p.m. Funeral Services followed on Monday at noon, at the Soldotna Methodist Church with the Reverend Karen Martin Tichenor officiating. Interment: Soldotna Community Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to Hospice of Central Peninsula.
Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna M. Brown; children, Kasandra (Thomas) Evans, Mark Brown, Richard (Vicki) Brown, Cynthia (Walter) Johnson; grandchildren, Matthew (Lynn) Coleman, Timothy Coleman, Thomas (Caroline) Evans, Jeffery (Danielle) Evans, Michael (Lindsay) Evans, Aaron Brown-Johnson, Aimee (KJ) Boyce, Andrew Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Jasmine Lind, Sarah Gruber; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Elena, Wyatt, Hayden, Lily, Claire, Andre, James and Malik. Richard is also survived by siblings Nancy Logan and The Reverend Harold (Heldred) Brown.
He is preceded in death by sisters Helen Bechtel and Eleanor Hess.
Richard was well respected within the community and served on many boards including Central Peninsula Hospital, Soldotna Historical Society and Serenity House. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce and an advocate for senior causes. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, always giving 100 percent.
