John A Kirchner was born August 16, 1871 or 72 in Scales Mound and was the son of Adam and Rebecca (Saruaer) Kirchner, who were natives of Germany. He first married Mary Ellen Gilbert and later married Catherine Houston, who was a native of England. John was the father of twelve children: John Robert, George, Adam, Charles, Ernest, James, Mrs Harry Sanderson, Anna Green, Della Rose Chapman, Ruth, Kate Baughn, Irene Lowell and Mrs. Earl Gill. John farmed for many years in Blanding and moved to the village of Hanover in 1933. John died in 1936
