Hazel Brooks (nee Adams), 83, of Dubuque, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2005, at her residence, surrounded by family. She was born July 26, 1921, in Brinkley, Ky., and lived in Medina for 60 years. She moved to Dubuque three years ago to be near her son and family. Mrs. Brooks was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Fellowship Church in Medina. While living in Dubuque, she attended Dubuque Bible Church. She enjoyed reading and liked flowers. Her greatest joy was to be with her family. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her son, Michael A. (Janice L.) Brooks of Dubuque; grandchildren, Meagan Brooks of Pensacola, Fla., and Kristen (Pat) Hendricks and Zachary Brooks, both of Dubuque; and great-granddaughter, Madeline Hendricks, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellison Brooks, whom she married in Medina on May 6, 1944; parents, Soloman and Celia (nee Parks) Adams; four sisters; and five brothers. Mrs. Brooks was the youngest and last of her family. Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel. The Rev. Max Deffenbaugh will officiate. Burial: Spring Grove
