Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at the residence and burial in Hillcrest. Funeral will be charge of the Odd Fellows of which he was a member, and the sermon will be preached by the Rev. Rule of the the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Rapp came to this country from Germany when 27 years of age, and having learned the cabinet trade, secured employment with Henry Myer, who owned the furniture factory and planing mill now operated by J. H. Miller.
After working for one year, he started in business for himself in a small frame building on Fifth street making furniture and later moved his business to a small brick building on the corner of Fifth and Hoosier, the building which still stands and is a part of the business now conducted by the two sons of Mr. Rapp.
He was married to Mary Verbarg, a sister of Wm. Verbarg, in 1877, at one time mayor of this city. To this union were born three children, Henry and Fred of this city and Mrs. Lena Bock of Vernon, Texas. His wife died a year ago last January.
