Chauncey J. Elderkin was born at Camillus, N. Y. Sept. 12, 1858.
In 1874 he accompanied his family to Oak Park, where he has since resided. His education was completed in the High school here. On August 2d, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Mae L. Fish, formerly of Belleville, N. Y. For the last fifteen years he has been connected with the land department of the North-Western R. R. During the past two years his health has been gradually failing and the end came peacefully on the morning of February 2. His wife and two brothers survive him, Mr. George D. Elderkin, of this place, and Mr. Henry Elderkin of La Grange, Ind. The funeral was attended at the residence of the former on Sunday, February 4, Rev. C M Morton, officiating, assisted by Rev. H. I. Rasmus, of the First Methodist church.
The services were brief, simple and impressive. The interment was held at Forest Home cemetery, the bearers being the nephews and cousins of the deceased.
