Merilyn M. Jesek 93, of Long Creek, passed away peacefully in her residence on Thursday. February 21, 2013.

A service to celebrate Merilyn's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Rev. Joel Stevenor officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. Merilyn was born at home on May 15, 1919, in Shumway, IL the daughter of William and Elvalena ( Elliott) Helmbacher. She married Albert Jesek on January 7, 1940. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1980. She was a 1937 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star #1016. She and her husband owned and operated Meadowbrook Poultry Farm and Standard Farm and Gardens. She was endearingly referred to as Aunt Merry on the radio.

Merilyn is survived by her children: Dr. Sheila Jesek-Hale of Long Creek and Dr. Warren Jesek and his wife Linda of Long Creek, grandchildren: Sophi Jesek of Long Creek, IL, Curt Hale of Chicago, and Krista Jesek of Long Creek, IL: step grandchildren: Chad Hale and his wife Heather of Mt. Zion and Kristen Black and her husband Tracy of Macon, and Kevin Hale and his wife Rene of Decatur; also surviving are seven step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law: Dr. Charles Hale and sister: Maurine Rincker.6a
