Born May 12, 1917 in Ardmore to Roland and Ozia (Williams) Skaggs, she died Tues., Dec. 4 in Okemah.

Funeral servics for Marie Thompson were held Sat., December 8, at 2:30 p.m., at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment followed at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Marie Thompson was born May 12,1917 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Roland and Ozia Valentine (Williams) Skaggs. She passed away Tuesday, December 4, in Okemah at the age of 90.
At a young age, her family moved to Creek County where she lived until age 17. On March 24, she married Ted W. Thompson and moved to Okfuskee county.
Marie and Ted went to live in the state of Washington for a short time and later returned to the Mason/Welty area to spend the rest of their lives. To this union was born one daughter, Teddy Kay Thompson. Marie accepted God at an early age and attended the Midway Church of Christ in Paden faithfully until her health overcame her. She was employed by Oktronics, Mason School as cook and custodian and as a caretaker for the elderly before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, riding horses, and fishing. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband Ted on December 12, 1971; her parents, nine brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Teddy Kay Speir and husband Gene; two grandsons, Thompson Speir and wife Gina and Terry Speir and wife Nancy Lynn; five great-grandsons, Brandon and wife Emily Speir, Jordan and wife Shannon Speir, Alex Gene Speir, Tucker Speir, and Josh Speir. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Tyler Speir and great-great-granddaughter, Keelie Speir. Her family all reside in Okfuskee County.
Mrs. Thompson is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Gary Jones and assisted by Ron Massey.
