Mary Eugenia Ann Darby was the daughter of Derrill Hart Darby of St Matthew's Parish, SC, and Charlotte Olympia Garnett. During the War Between the States, Mary Darby was a signer of Confederate Treasury Notes and related her experiences in South Carolina Women in the Confederacy. Edited by Mrs. James Conner. Vol II. Columbia, S.C.: State Company, 1907 (pp. 176-193). Her experiences have been cited in several recent works discussing the role of women in the South.
After the war, she married William Joyner deTreville on Dec 20, 1877. They had one son, Derrill deTreville who resided most of his life in Savannah, GA.
