Dolores Catherine Obert 82 of 2215 Cannonball Road Quincy 62305 ,died at Blessing Hospital on Tuesday, February 19 2013. She was born on December 24, 1930 to Leo and Sylvia(Ridder) Hildebrand in Quincy, where she spent her entire life. On June 20, 1959 she married Richard M. Obert in St. Francis Church. He survives
She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School in 1949. Prior to her marriage she took great pride in her years of work with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). After her marriage she assumed the career that brought her the greatest satisfaction and the one that she held onto until the day of her death - that of mother.
In her younger days she was active in the Quincy Community Theater and was happy to be able to resurrect this interest in her later years as part of the theaters "Silver Stars". She always loved being creative through her songs, her story telling, and her poetry. She loved entertaining and bringing family together. She particularly liked the Christmas season and liked that she was born on Christmas Eve. She was a very devout woman and her Catholic faith was central to how she led her life. She loved being social and never passed up a good bingo game. She was a strong supporter of St. Dominic school through the many, many activities of her children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren, all of whom attended the school. She was a member of St. Francis Church.
Her greatest joy was being an active part of the lives of her eight children and their families. She believed her children were her "diamonds". She took every opportunity possible to host or be at a family gathering. She taught her children about the importance of faith and family. She went out of her way to make every holiday special from the "Penny Candy Store" on the 4th of July, St. Nicholas and the stockings , to making sure the "Valentines Man" made his deliveries. The traditions she imparted to her children and grandchildren will carry on for many years to come
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children: James (Karen), Yvonne (Gerald "Booty") Campbell, Rich, Steve (Penny), Alan(Todd), Mathias "Matt"(Amy), Leon, Joanne(Travis) Cobb. Her grandchildren: James Jr. "Jay", Kayla, Timothy, Kristy, Katyann, Kelly, and Kori Kay Obert, Holly(Dustin) Schell, Nicholas and Lucas Campbell, Victoria "Tori" and Stephanie Obert, Jacob, Nathan, Emily and Mathias Obert, Dana and Catherine Cramer. Great grandchildren: Grace, Emma, Sophia, and Elijah Schell. Her step-grandchildren Hannah and Taylor Cobb. Her sister-in-law Doris Hildebrand; brothers in law Kenneth Dietrich and Joseph Sanders; her special cousin Charlene Marcks, many nieces, nephews and dearly loved Godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Leroy in infancy, Bonita Middendorf, Julianna Hildebrand, James Hildebrand, Virginia Dietrich and Leota Sanders; a brother in law Walter Middendorf and a grandson Joshua Cramer.
