Weldon Clay Lemmon, 66, of Tamaroa, passed away at 12:29 P.M., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his residence.
Clay had been owner/operator of Clay's Transmission Shop for over thirty years. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois and the Du Bois Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was a US Navy veteran of the Viet Nam era. Clay enjoyed camping, boating and restoring antique John Deere tractors.
He was born November 16, 1946 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Weldon "Casey" and Nettie Belle (Clay) Lemmon.
Clay married Dolores Zurawski on May 10, 1975 at Chicago, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, mother- Nettie Belle Lemmon of Tamaroa, four children- Krystal Altstatt and husband Joe of Jacksonville, FL, Russell Lemmon and wife Michelle of Jacksonville, FL, Scott Lemmon and wife Jennifer of Tamaroa and Jennifer Bathon and husband Justin of Lexington, KY, sister- Ramona Plumlee and husband Ken of Tamaroa and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and Du Quoin American Legion.
Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
