Hodge Man Killed In Auto Crash
a 47-year old Hodge man, Paul Sizemore, was killed instantly in a one car accident on the Dugdemona Bridge on the Arcadia Highway just outside of Hodge.
The accident was believed to have occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.
According to investigating officer, Trooper Billy Walker, Sizemore's car, a 1966 model Ford, veered off the highway traveling toward Hodge, dismantled some 35-40 feet of the bridge railing, then plunged off the structure in a drop of some 25-30 feet before landing on it's cab. The car was demolished by the impact.
The wreckage was discovered by employees of Continental Can Company as they were driving home from the evening shift.
Sizemore had been working as a welder in Shreveport and was returning to his home in Hodge when he lost control of the vehicle. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
Funeral services were incomplete at press time.
The deceased is survived by his widow of Hodge; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Dowden of Natchitoches; his mother, Mrs. Emma Sizemore of Hodge; three sisters, Mrs. Polly Porter of Hodge, Mrs. Betty Smith of Hamilton, Virginia, Mrs. Mary Green of Transylvania; one brother, Bracton Sizemore of Haughton; two grandchildren also survive.
