Harry Eugene "Butch" Boice, 67, husband of Sonja (Nicholas) Boice of 134 Pheasant Run passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in Augusta Health.
Mr. Boice was born July 14, 1945 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Donald Eugene Boice and Evalyn (Sutton) Boice-Kelly.
Mr. Boice served in the United States Air Force in, the 113th Tactical Fighter Wing, at Andrews Air Force Base and at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He retired in 1993 from Washington Gas with 30 years of service as a supervisor in Energy Conversation Systems. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2797 in Murrells Inlet, SC and attended Lodge #2270 in Waynesboro. He was also a member of the Occoquan Masonic Lodge #310 in Woodbridge and Kena Temple in Fairfax, as a member and Captain in 1985 of the Kena Temple Horse Patrol, including being a Past President of the South Atlantic Shrine Horse Patrol Association of 1977. In 1980 he rode horseback with the Kena Temple Mounties in President Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Parade. He was a life time member of the "Lost Hunt Club" and was serving as President at the time of his passing. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer and Redskin fan.
In addition to his wife of 47 years and his mother of Rockville, MD. Mr. Boice is survived by two sons, Paul Eugene Boice and wife Wendy and Jeffrey Eric Boice all of Front Royal; one daughter, Tara Colleen Boice of Manassas; five sisters, Donna E. (Boice) Walker of Fredrick, MD, Patricia Kelly of Easton, MD, Evy Weaver of Rockville, MD, Peggy Colleen Donahue of Rockville, MD, and Sherry Connell of Rockville, MD; one granddaughter, Gena Rose Boice; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; cousins and many friends, also survive.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Marco Smith.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be in the Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Occoquan Masonic Lodge No. 310 of Woodbridge.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to "The Shriners' Hospital for Children" mail donations to: Kena Temple, P.O. Box 456, Merrifield, VA 22116.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
