Born April 17, 1912, in Henry Co., Kentucky, she was the oldest of Thomas B. and Edith F. Couch Tandy's seven children.
Elizabeth moved to Indianapolis at age 18 to work in the office of a family friend.
She met Alfred Earl Burger at Garfield Park Baptist Church and they married June 19, 1932.
They remained active in that church community and later Emerson Avenue Baptist Church.
Elizabeth is survived by a son, William E. Burger; daughter, Marilyn Hollander (Gene); her youngest brother, Richard Bruce Tandy (Lois); six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Earl preceded her in death December 31, 1998. A daughter, Patricia Nold; a son, John; and two grandchildren, Beth and Daniel, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, 5377 E. Washington St., with entombment to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery
