BRYANT – Funeral for Mrs. Marie Hickman, 97, who died Saturday in a Bryant nursing home, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. K. Oliver Brekke officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Marie Dawson was born Feb. 8, 1880, to William and Cynthia Dawson at Farmington, Iowa and as a child moved with her family to Anson, Mo. After completing a business course at Marion, Ind., she was employed in Keokuk, Iowa for seven and one half years. On June 30, 1909, she married Dr. G.L. Hickman at Leola. They lived in Wentworth before moving to Bryant in 1913. Her husband died in June 1955.

Mrs. Hickman was a member of the Congregational Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Dorcas Society, Rebekah Lodge and the Women's Club of Bryant.

Survivors include one son, Elwood, Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. J.B. (Leona) Shortlidge, Barnard, Vt.; and one granddaughter.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Ahrens-Osthus Funeral Home.
