Josiah Marsh
*Josiah Marsh and his Wife Leannah Jane Bell Marsh came by ox team to The Dalles in 1854, filing on their Donation Land Claim on what is now called the Marsh Gravel Pit Ranch in 1854. The Marsh family had much trouble with the Indians and sought shelter in the safety of the woods on many nights. Their Son Abel Yeoma Marsh, who was born in Iowa in 1847, came west with his parents to Marsh flat in 1854.
*Josiah married Leannah Jane Bell on January 6 1848 in Wapello County, Iowa.
*Records show that Josiah and Leannah were divorced in 1869.
