Mr. G.D.Curtis Killed By Train

Mr.G.D.Curtis, aged 29 years,an employee of the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad was instantly killed Monday night in the northern part of Columbia, when he feel between two flat cars, the cars, passing over his
body also cutting one leg off near the knee.
Mr. Curtis was walking toward the engine on top of some flat cars while the train was going at a slow rate of speed and apparently lost his footing as he endeavored to step from one car to another and fell between the cars.
The conductor who was only a short distance ahead heard him when he fell and applied the air brakes as soon as possible, but it was to late to do any good.
Mr. Curtis had been with this road for about three years, having moved
to Mississippi from Indiana . This was his first trip over this part
of the road having previously worked out of Hattiesburg making his home in Seminary Miss. He was a man that always attended to his duties and was well liked by his employees.
He is survived by a wife and two children.
