Earl L. Hale

Earl L. Hale, 80, 1735 Webster, died early Monday morning at his home after a short illness.
He was born June 20, 1902, in Denison, the son of William Landon and Mary Bonsal Hale. He lived in Kansas City, Kan., two years and spent the rest of his life in Topeka since 1919.

He was employed by the Fleming Co. and First national Bank of Topeka. He also was the first deputy in Shawnee County treasurer's office for 10 years and later worked as a tax agent for Santa Fe Railway from 1943 to 1967.
He was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church in Topeka; was past pastor of Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM; and a member of York Rite bodies, Arab Shrine, Ancient Toltec Rite Council No. 1, Topeka Chapter No. 462, Order of Eastern Star, and Santa Fe Old Timers Club.

He was married to Gladys Crawford in April, 1926. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, M. Sgt. Loren D. Hale, Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Mrs. Edna Taliaferro, Shreveport, La.; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 Drury Lane, 66604.
