Keith B. Meents, 87 of Corning passed away on February 19, 2013 surrounded by his wife and children.

Keith was born on October 18, 1925 near Guide Rock, Nebraska to Carl and Edna Carpenter Meents. He lived on various farms in Webster County Nebraska. He was an outstanding athlete at Eckley High School and graduated in 1944 as the salutatorian of his class.

During WWII he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations. Upon his discharge, he farmed in Nebraska until 1951 when he and his family moved to Corning.

In June of 1952 he married Betty Barton of Blue Hill, Nebraska at El Camino Methodist Church.

He took up dairy farming southwest of Corning and ran the dairy until 1988. He continued to farm the rest of his life alongside his son until the last few months of his life. He was a longtime member of the Corning First United Methodist Church where he served in many church offices.

Keith is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, his daughter and her husband; Susan and Korby Olson of Middletown, CA, his son and wife; Douglas and Deborah Meents of Corning. He is survived by his two grandsons; Erick Olson and Metthew Meents, his brother; Darrell of Corning, his sister-in-law; Sylvia of Corning, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Loren and his sister Ila Jeane Lepp.
