Death of Mr. Sheperd E. Perkins: Our county in the sudden death of Mr. Sheperd E. Perkins, has lost one of her oldest and best citizens. He was born and reared in this county, and for 70 years has been identified with it. No citizen of Burke has spent more of his life than he in developing its resources. For 40 years or more his useful life was given to the farming and timber business, and the products of his industry have gone to all parts of the world. His timber enterprise has in time been one of the largest in the state. Tho Burke has furnished an immense amount of the lumber that passed through his manufactory, yet it extended into other counties of our great Georgia yellow pine district. He was a quiet, dignified and conservative citizen deeply interested in the advancement of his native county, and his death leaves a great void in our citizenship. His remains were interred near his home in the old cemetery where so many of his forefathers and relatives repose. The funeral will take place at Perkins Magnolia church tomorrow at 11:30 o'clock.
