CHARLES FAIRES, 100, OF GLOUSTER, DIES

GLOUSTER--Charles G. (Frosty) Faires, 100, of Glouster, one of Athens County's oldest residents, died in the Mark Rest Center, McConnellsville at 2:11 a.m. Wednesday.

Born Dec. 24, 1868 at Sand Rock near Amesville, he was the son of the late Aaron and Lisa Van Dyke Faires. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Glouster K of P Lodge.

Mr. Faires was employed in the transfer business in Glouster, and later was a grocer, operating at two locations in Glouster and in Akron for three years. He was subject of a feature story in The Messenger Dec. 22 of last year.

Surviving are three sons, Lester, of Glouster; Earl of Zanesville; and Gail of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his wife, Anna Gatchel Faires, five sons, one sister, and four brothers.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Van Fossen Funeral Home, Glouster, with the Rev. Joe Walburn officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
