Lyda Ogle Banes Wiley, 99, of 217 W. Main St., Vevay, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at King's Daughters' Hospital. She was born April 4, 1902, in Vevay, the daughter of Robert Bruce and Elizabeth Golay Banes. She helped her late husband, Benjamin Hobert Wiley, on the family farms on Pendleton Run, Hominy Ridge and on S.R. 129 near Vevay. She was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church and attended the Fredonia Baptist Church on Tapps Ridge. She was also a member of the Bridge Community Home Demonstration Club during the 1930s and later of the Tapp's Ridge Home Demonstration Club.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary, and one son, Hobart E. "Jack"' Wiley of Ludlow, Ky.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, March 3, 1983; one son, Adrian D. Wiley, March 21, 1998; three sisters, Ethel Peelman, Golda Peters and Mayme Callahan; and two brothers, Robert and Carl Banes.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 6, 2002, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery. Friends may call and a reception will be held from 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, until the time of the service at Haskell & Morrison. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Swiss Villa Memorial Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.
